RHETORIC – the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the exploitation of figures of speech and other compositional techniques.

SUBJECTIVE – based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.

GROTESQUE – comically or repulsively ugly or distorted.

LURID – unpleasantly bright in colour, especially so as to create a harsh or unnatural effect.

INTERACTIVITE MODE – the camera man displays their own input, not through the use of a voice over in the editing process, but as the events occur. This perhaps begins to present the audience with the idea that the reality they are viewing is that of the experience of the camera man _!_ o!o
In this way it can be argued that the interactive mode presents an authentic documentation of reality as the thoughts expressed, and the commentary delivered are true to that of the film maker themselves. This contrasts against the open ended, ambiguous interpretation of reality that the observational mode presents to the audience through the detachment of the camera man. The interactive mode also allows personal contact with the subjects of the documentary.

Showing the man (or woman) behind the curtain to the audience should shake the core of the whole damned process of storytelling.

PERFORMATIVE DOCUMENTARY – Instead of using traditional linear continuity to create story structure, the poetic documentary filmmaker arrives at its point by arranging footage in an order to evoke an audience association through tone, rhythm, or spatial juxtaposition.

CUBISM – an early-20th-century avant-garde art movement that revolutionized European painting and sculpture, and inspired related movements in music, literature and architecture.
